Bonus codes and tips for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (PC).
1.Bonus Content Codes
Select 'Unlock Code' from the STALKER folder in your start menu (or run setup-bp.exe in the install directory) and enter:

2.Good Weapon Early
Play the first mission (rescue a stalker from raiders) and loot as many items from the fallen as you can. Return to the starting camp and sell the guns; you should afford the silenced handgun with ~500 RU to spare (if not, do a side-mission for the stalker you saved). Then head north to the bridge, where a few soldiers fight some stalkers. Save and wait until the soldiers clear the stalkers. Talk to the soldier on the left of the bridge (near the debris, not the campfire); he lets you pass for 500 RU. Agree to pay and he turns around. For ~3-5 seconds no soldier looks at you — shoot him with the silenced handgun, making sure it's a headshot (and un-equip your weapon at the same time). If fast enough, the others won't notice and you can loot a decent weapon, grenades and anti-radiation caps. Also climb to the wagon hanging at the top of the bridge for more hidden gear.
3.Free Stalker Suit
At the start, talk to a stalker named Wolf in the Cordon newbie camp. Behind Wolf is a ladder to an attic. Climb it but don't enter the attic; walk around the ledge where roof and walls meet to reach the house roof. North of it is an identical house — sprint and jump onto its roof (you take a little damage). On the second roof, just past the hole, you'll spot a wooden crate you can destroy. (If you accepted the mission to rescue Nimble, you have a pistol.) Shoot the crate for a Stalker suit worth 15,000 Rubles.
4.Barrels of Fun Exploit
If you shoot an NPC, he and his faction open fire on you. But if you use the red explosive barrels to kill them, it doesn't count as a 'source of damage' against you. You can try this on some Freedom NPCs in the Army Warehouses standing next to a giant bomb that only needs your gunfire to detonate.
5.Performance Tweak (community config)
Some players gain performance by replacing user.ltx with a tuned community config. The file is under Documents\STALKER-SHOC. Always back up the original first.
